The Sol-R 3 is the Sol-R grip sold on its own, and Thrustmaster specifies 21 mappable action buttons on it: two triggers (one dual-position), two hat switches, a ministick and a thumbwheel. Unusually for a grip, it carries its own Z axis, which the maker pairs with two virtual axes (ministick, thumbwheel) on H.E.A.R.T. (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) magnetic sensors. Two STAR cams ship in the box, letting AVA base owners reshape the grip's axis curve for space simulation. Interchangeable thumb and hand rests convert it for either hand, and the ministick is backlit. Thrustmaster lists it as optimised for AVA and Sol-R bases, with limited Warthog base compatibility through the Warthog Converter: on that base the LED is not adjustable, the Z axis is not functional, the ministick falls back to an eight-way POV with no click, and the thumbwheel's virtual axis is unavailable. All bases and converters are sold separately. The maker lists the grip at 75 x 115 x 200 mm and 309 g.
