Virpil calls the WarBRD-D the "latest evolution" of the WarBRD base: a two-axis (pitch and roll) gimbal built on what the maker calls VPC Digital Contactless Sensors, stated at 14-bit native resolution and 0.02° angle detection. The gimbal housing is aircraft-grade duralumin with precision-machined metal internals, and each axis has an independently adjustable clutch damper — a feature Virpil says debuted on the MongoosT-50CM3. It connects over USB HID and needs no drivers.
The base ships with three spring weights and multiple cam sets (AviaSim/CosmoSim, soft-centre and no-centre). Virpil states grip compatibility with its own WarBRD, V.F.X, MongoosT-50, FLNKR, Constellation ALPHA/DELTA, SharKa-50, Hawk-60 and Dual-SF grips, plus Thrustmaster's Warthog, F/A-18C and Cougar grips with an adapter modification.
